- BUILDING SOCIETIES ACT, 1986
- Закон о строительных обществах 1986 г.
Закон, предоставляющий строительным обществам в Великобритании новые права в целях расширения их традиционной деятельности. Согласно этому закону общества могут осуществлять денежные переводы, операции по страхованию, выдачу дорожных чеков, обмен валюты, управление программами пенсионного обеспечения, операции с ценными бумагами, а также предоставлять услуги по купле-продаже недвижимости. Таким образом, Закон 1986 г. способствовал росту конкуренции в сфере предоставления финансовых услуг. По закону строительным обществам также разрешается увеличивать свою капитализацию путем регистрации организации как акционерной компании (как это сделали строительные общества Эбби Нэшнл и Галифакс), выпуска акций и получения биржевой котировки.
